Mt. Top Folk Art

Artist StatementI was raised on the family farm my grandparents owned in Western Massachusetts. As a traditionally large family, with frequent relatives as guests, I was often outdoors exploring with cousins and siblings. These adventures form the stories in my paintings.
Whether it be sledding down a hill, fishing on the pond, swimming in the brook, collecting sap during
sugaring season, or making apple cider with a real press, I hope my joy in expressing these memories brings the delight of your own childhood to life.
My father and his mother were both painters. Though I've had no formal training in the arts, the skills I learned from my grandmother combined with my passion, has driven me to pursue painting. I am self-taught. My themes are inspired by memories, old postcards, and colonial architecture. My style is inspired by Currier and Ives, and folk artists including Grandma Moses, Will Moses, Charlie Munro, Warren Kimball, Diana Card, and K. Kelleher.
I believe everyone will be able to identify a piece of themselves in at least one of my paintings. All works are in Acrylic, as I move towards using Oil as a medium.
